Founded by Joseph Nahmad in collaboration with Tommaso Calabro, Nahmad Projects opened in June 2016. The gallery is known for its innovative, multi-media shows as well as opening dialogues between artists rarely exhibited together. The gallery launched with a concept by Francesco Bonami, a cycle of thirty performances over thirty days called I am NOT tino sehgal. This showcase of international emerging performance artists was followed by BLISS with an exploration of eroticism through three iconic artists spanning a century: Jason Rhoades, Felix Gonzalez-Torres and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. A solo show Jean Tinguely followed with a focused display of the Swiss artist’s metamechanics. It was the first solo gallery show of Jean Tinguely’s work in London for almost twenty years. A second collision of three artists came with Rothko Cage Turrell, where the three legendary figures of Post-War and Postmodern art and music were brought together around the theme of silence.
